Getting Back On My Feet

Good morning All,

It has been quite a little while since my last post. A lot has gone on and two surgeries later I am almost back on my feet. The carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand has afforded me some pain relief but I’ve got a little ways to go before I can actually grip things and be mostly useful with it. That being said I had to get on my feet and go start feeding the animals and filling their love and connection.

My heart surgery, with the pacemaker has gone very well too. They just took my dressing off of the wound and I have been given full clearance to actually take a full shower instead of just sponge baths. That in itself is a victory. I do have to keep my elbow to my side so that the leads to my heart do not get pulled out for the next three weeks and I still can’t drive for another week. That being said I am back on my feet and starting to make small steps back into productivity.

On the PMR front, the animals are doing great and we’re starting to prep the chickens for their time of molting and entering into the winter season. PMR front, the animals are doing great and we’re starting to prep the chickens for their time of molting and entering into the winter season.

Our little calves have really started to put on their own personalities and beginning to put a little bit of weight on. Our other two cows have been growing like weeds as well. We are looking forward to joining both groups together for the winter season, making feeding and observation for their health easier.

We also have great news about the carriage house. There has been two donors who have blessed us with $10,000. With this we will be able to get most if not all of the electrical done. We will have to do a lot of the labor ourselves but with a good team we can accomplish anything. In the end the carriage house will have electricity and there will be two sites for RVs to be able to come and camp at PMR as well as they can bring their family to participate in the PMR’s activities.

It is so exciting to see each step being accomplished. It is humbling when you know you cannot do it by yourself but exhilarating to see good people desiring to reach out to touch our veterans with the idea of “Veterans leading Veterans in a Healing Experience.

Keep tuned as new and exciting things continue to happen at PMR.
