Digging Holes for the Carriage House
Wow, what a challenge, I can tell you, this soil is not anything like the farming soil of the Midwest or the soil of the shores of the East Coast. It is made up of mostly red and yellow clay with a heavy mixture of rock. The auger I have been using will not drill straight. It hits a small rock or is unable to dig the hard clay and then shifts in the hole. So far I have had to re-dig by hand 7 holes. Oh by the way that is all I have been able to dig so far. My next door neighbor, Bennie, is coming over to help and see what we can figure out. He is an amazing man, a veteran and someone who has been a blessing sent by God. I can say, without him a lot of the projects would not get completed as successful as they are.
So, I stopped digging holes last night and just prepared the holes for digging today, Bennie is bringing over another auger and we will see if it can work better. Before digging I have to clear off all the gravel so that the top of the soil is ready to be punched. I will do a video and send some pics.
Stay tuned as God raises PM’s Carriage House.
